Selectboard approves transfer of decommissioning police cruiser to Emergency Management

Emergency Management Director David Coffey told the Selectboard that the department's 2005 Dodge Durango, used since 2010, would no longer pass inspection and is no longer safe for service. He said the Police Department offered an older cruiser that will be taken out of police service and transferred to Emergency Management for use; outfitting costs will be covered by the Emergency Management budget.
Ed Perry moved to approve the transfer; Dan Marcek seconded the motion and the board voted 4-0 in favor. The board did not specify a dollar amount for outfitting beyond saying costs will come from the Emergency Management budget and will be reported as part of budget oversight.
The transfer addresses an immediate equipment need for Emergency Management and enables reuse of town assets rather than purchase of a new vehicle.
