The Cabell County Board of Assessment Appeals voted unanimously Oct. 20 to lower the assessed value of a Huntington printing-plant property to $2,998,200 after an agreement with the West Virginia State Tax Department.
Greg Bergdale of DeCharme, McMillen & Associates told the board the settlement covers both 2015 and 2016 and applies to the property listed as BPS Printing Systems, LLC/Flint Group at 2400 5th Avenue in the Gideon District (Map 20, Parcel 43). Anne Yon, president of the Board of Assessment Appeals, presided over the session.
Commissioner Robert L. Bailey moved to approve the reduced assessment; Commissioner Nancy Cartmill seconded the motion. The board voted unanimously to adopt the settlement. The board recessed at 10:07 a.m. and reconvened at 10:49 a.m. with no further action on this item.
The action resolves the taxpayer’s challenge for both years specified in the settlement, according to Bergdale’s presentation. The board did not record additional conditions or follow-up responsibilities for county staff in the minutes.
