Lane County adopts final FY25–26 supplemental budget, moves funds to cover sheriff’s contract

The Lane County Board of Commissioners on June 23 unanimously approved Order 2606‑2301, adopting Supplemental Budget No. 4 for fiscal year 2025–26.

Christine Moody, the county’s budget and financial planning manager, told the board the supplemental is the year’s final adjustment and is timed to reflect actual expenditure and project timing. The largest single change Moody highlighted was a movement of just under $1 million from the general fund road fund into the sheriff’s office budget to cover personnel costs that were not included in the original adopted budget because the LCPOA labor contract was completed mid‑year.

Moody also told the board the supplemental includes a reduction of 6.5 full‑time equivalents in community health centers and several small rebudgets in funds that exceeded the 10% amendment threshold under ORS 294.473. Those funds include the county school fund (secure rural schools passthrough for extension services), the extension service levy fund, the fire defense board fund and the parks levy fund; staff said timing of projects is driving those adjustments.

The public hearing required by ORS 294.473 was opened and closed with no in‑person or virtual testimony. Commissioner Level moved to adopt the order and resolution; Commissioner Treiger seconded. The motion carried on a 5–0 voice vote.

The order amends appropriations for the current fiscal year; Moody said staff will continue to monitor personnel budgets and project timing as the county closes the fiscal year.
