Weed Superintendent Carlson updated the Polk County Board of County Commissioners on Jan. 27, reporting that nearly 6,500 acres were sprayed by helicopter in the Platte Valley Weed Management Area in 2025 and that 15 Phragmites inspections have been completed to date.
Carlson presented the Weed Control Authority Board Roster. Commissioner Boruch moved to authorize the Chairman to sign the roster as presented; Commissioner Boss seconded. The minutes record a roll-call vote of Boruch, aye; Boss, aye; Westring, aye. The motion carried.
Carlson told the Board the department's side-by-side vehicle is being repaired and that he will attend the annual weed conference in Norfolk next week to receive continuing education hours.
The action taken — authorizing the chairman to sign the roster — was recorded as a formal board motion and voted on during the meeting.
