The Polk County Board on Jan. 6 approved a change order and payment application for two overlay projects and authorized easements for an upcoming bridge project.
Highway Superintendent Theis presented Change Order No. 1 and Application for Payment No. 1 for the Shelby North and Osceola North overlay projects, reporting that the change order increased the amount of patching and the volume of asphalt needed. Commissioner Boss moved to approve both documents; Chairman Westring seconded the motion and the roll call vote was Boss, aye; Westring, aye; Boruch, aye.
Commissioner Boruch moved to authorize the chairman to sign temporary and permanent easements obtained from 2L Farms LLC and the Dean E. James and Marian K. James Trust for the G Road bridge project; the motion carried by roll call vote. Theis also reported that a culvert will be installed this week for Aaron Schott and that staff continues developing the county’s 1- and 6-year Road Plan, which the minutes say will be finalized in February.
The minutes do not include dollar amounts for the change order or the application for payment. The Highway Bonds Fund payment to Constructors Inc. for $1,887,803.70 appears in the claims listing; the minutes record the change-order approval and easement authorization as separate formal motions.
