Road Foreman Ericson told the Polk County Board on Dec. 23 that Supt. Theis is reviewing the pay application for the Shelby North and Osceola North projects and that mailboxes are being reinstalled along the Osceola North blacktop. Ericson said Congressman Flood’s office reported no new updates on appropriations for the Lone Star West project.
Ericson also reported that the mower blades need replacement and will be replaced with heavy‑duty blades. He said Polk County had received no reply from Butler County about sharing the costs of a traffic study.
Weed Superintendent Carlson reported the five annual reports required by the State have been completed and the department’s chemical inventory is about half finished. Carlson said the Nebraska Department of Agriculture informed the department that Polk County has no open files. He told the board that winter phragmites inspections will begin soon and that he must be recertified in four categories to remain a chemical applicator. When appropriate, the edges of resurfaced blacktops will be sprayed for weed control.
No formal motions or votes were recorded on these operational reports at the meeting.
