Prescott approves $6,126 change order for Magee Park storm sewer repairs; DNR reimbursement expected

Prescott, Wis. — The Prescott City Council on June 8 approved Resolution 27-26, Change Order No. 2 for the Magee Park Improvements Project, to locate and excavate an undocumented storm sewer and to remove and replace portions of existing 12-inch and 18-inch reinforced concrete storm sewer pipe, adjust a manhole, restore an outfall and add riprap protection.
City Administrator Matt Wolf said Cedar Corporation reviewed the change order and determined the cost was reasonable and necessary to complete the project. The change order increases the construction contract from $509,569.66 to $515,696.14, an increase of $6,126.48. Staff recommended funding the additional work equally from the Water Utility Fund and the Sewer Utility Fund. Final payment will be made to Total Excavating LLC after project closeout; following final review by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, the city will be eligible for $140,181.25 in reimbursement from the WI DNR Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program.
Mayor Gerke asked whether the grant reimbursement would be used to pay off the city loan for the project; Wolf said capital funds financed the work and any reimbursement would return to capital funds. Alderperson Dar Hintz moved approval, seconded by Alderperson Lindsey Sorenson; the motion passed without a negative voice vote.
