Western Sunset presents Canyon Creek gravel‑pit proposal to commissioners; no action taken

Daniel Stone and Katie Stone of Western Sunset, LLC, presented an overview of a proposed gravel pit on state lands south of Natural Bridge Road/CR13 commonly called the Canyon Creek Pit. The company requested a Limited Mine Operation not to exceed 15 acres and said it anticipates an average of about 20 loads per day once operational.
Western Sunset told the board it is awaiting Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality permits for air, water and land quality. Commissioners recommended reviewing the Roadway Use Agreement for impacts and additional requirements such as signage; Commissioner Donald Blackburn recused himself from the discussion due to a stated conflict of interest and left chambers. No action was taken at the meeting.
County staff asked the presenters to coordinate with Road & Bridge on route impacts and to provide permit updates to the clerk’s office as they become available.
