Tourism board approves local event grants, endorses $60,000 State Fair media buy and adopts FY2027 budget

Glenrock — The Converse County Tourism Promotion Board on May 26 approved a slate of community event grants, endorsed a $60,000 media buy requested by the Wyoming State Fair and adopted its proposed Fiscal Year 2027 budget.
At the Club House at the Glenrock Golf Course, the board approved three grants for the Converse County Animal Shelter — $190 for Paws and Claus (Nov. 21, 2026), $615 for Paws & Pearls Gala (Dec. 5, 2026) and $4,730 for a capital-campaign series running June 2026–May 2027. The motions carried; Jane Garber abstained on each of the animal-shelter votes. The minutes and financial report (invoices paid totaling $63,618.25) were also approved earlier in the meeting.
The board approved event-promotion inclusions and grants for area organizations, including placement of Deer Creek Museum events in CCTPB media publications for May 26–Aug. 31 and support for Main Street Glenrock’s Rock the Glen series. Main Street Glenrock received a $740 grant to fund Main Street Market dates on June 5 and Aug. 28, and The Enterprise received $2,994 for Octoberfest (Oct. 3, 2026). Courtny Conkle of the Wyoming State Fair told the board the WSF team will attend the Great American State Fair in Washington, D.C., June 25–July 10 as part of Freedom 250 celebrations and noted the passing of WSF board member Steve Price and two open board positions. The fair requested a proposed $60,000 media buy; the board approved the media buy on a motion by John Rabun, seconded by Candace Benedetta.
Treasurer Candace Benedetta presented the proposed FY2027 budget; Vicki Widiker moved to accept it as proposed, seconded by John Rabun. The motion carried. The board also moved to recommend Jane Garber for reappointment to the Converse County Commissioners and city council for a second term.
