River Ridge CDD hears lake-maintenance update; residents, engineer discuss stormwater and standing-water concerns

Bill Kurth of Premier Lakes told the board that the lakes "appear to be in very good shape," that preserves and dry-retention work is underway, and that Premier increased service frequency from quarterly to monthly for the rainy season. Kurth said the Lake H1-B nano-bubbler would be repaired the following day and that crews had removed fallen trees from the Florida Power & Light ditch and outfall structure ahead of an approaching tropical storm. Kurth and Operations Manager Shane Willis said they will present proposals for the electrical work needed to relocate a compressor in the Masters Lake.
District Engineer Charlie Krebs reported that the MRI project to replace Pinehurst valley gutter inlet grates is about 80% complete and said he will confirm schedules for asphalt patching. Regarding stormwater performance after Tropical Storm Debbie, Krebs said parts of the community received "almost 8 inches of rain in two or three days," while the roads were designed for about 5½ inches in 24 hours; he suggested adding a drainage connection to Lake E1-A to bypass pipes and inlets and send water directly to the lake.
A resident raised a concern that standing water might be entering a slab and causing mold in a unit; Krebs said he recalled Mr. Long noting standing water had been ongoing and that he did not believe the standing water was the cause because other units did not report the same issue. Resident Anita Bachragh asked that a downed tree by River 9 Catch Basin #134 be righted and suggested the conservation area be cleared; Mr. Willis asked her to send photographs so staff can review and address the request. Resident Christine Mantilia asked whether fire trucks might pull water from the lakes to lower levels; Krebs said that is not typical, would pull plants and fish from the lakes, and would require approval from the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD). Larry Fiesel asked about a speed sign project; staff will provide an update at the next meeting.
The board recorded these updates for follow-up and asked staff to include unresolved items on the next meeting agenda as needed.
