Commissioners approve a package of routine items, including speed-limit change, detour, contract renewals and appointments

In a series of routine votes, Jennings County commissioners approved multiple administrative actions and appointments.
The board approved an ordinance lowering the speed limit to 40 mph on East County Road 800 North (between 200 North/200 East and North Base Road) after a motion and unanimous vote. Commissioners also approved an unofficial detour plan for INDOT work on State Road 3 near Vernon (route via 600 South → 300 West → 310 West → 850 South) to be used when the state closes the road next year.
A renewal contract with Dunlap for inspection and maintenance of county HVAC equipment (23 air handlers, two boilers, one cooling tower and six pumps) was approved at $882 per month ($10,584 per year), unchanged from the prior year. Commissioners also approved a travel request from the Area Planning Commission for an inspector to attend training on July 16, to be paid from the APC training/education fund.
The board appointed Roger Robinette to the county animal control board to replace Mark Smith; motions for the appointment were made and approved unanimously.
Other housekeeping items approved included payroll claims and prior meeting minutes. Commissioners discussed but did not act on a late‑filed AOD policy draft and encouraged staff to place it on the next agenda for fuller review.
