The Windsor Locks Board of Education on May 14 heard a curriculum update from Dr. Rebecca Bissonnette covering a reading pilot, WLMS math curriculum options and next steps for public posting.
Dr. Bissonnette reviewed the reading pilot and discussed a proposed move to the Amplify K–8 curriculum; the board discussed the item briefly and it was left for follow‑up. She also reviewed WLMS math curriculum options and associated costs and told the board that the math selection will be brought back to a future meeting for formal adoption.
Under Policy 6140, Dr. Bissonnette reminded board members that all curricula must be published and posted on the district website by July 1, 2026; she shared a sample curriculum outline during the presentation. The board approved Policy 6140 on second reading earlier in the meeting.
No formal adoption votes on the WLMS math curriculum or the reading pilot were recorded in the minutes; both items were discussed and scheduled for additional review and formal action at a future meeting. The curriculum office was directed to prepare published materials consistent with Policy 6140’s posting requirement.
The board also received other agenda business including budget and facilities updates; the district continues coordination with town officials ahead of a May 19, 2026 Town Meeting that was noted during Superintendent Parkhurst’s report.
