West Hartford Board ratifies employee re-opener, OKs child nutrition signatory authority and adopts financial report

The West Hartford Board of Education on Oct. 2 ratified a negotiated re-opener agreement with West Hartford Board of Education Professional Employees SEIU, CSEA, Local 2001 AFL-CIO for the period July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2021 and approved a set of routine administrative motions, all by voice vote with motions recorded as passed.
Mr. Zydanowicz moved and Mrs. Blanks seconded a motion authorizing Superintendent Tom Moore to sign the Agreement for Child Nutrition Programs and to sign claims for reimbursement; the board adopted the motion. A subsequent motion, moved by Ms. Polun and seconded by Mr. Zydanowicz, authorized the Director of Finance and Planning to sign reimbursement claims in the Superintendent’s absence; that motion also passed.
Ms. Polun moved and Mr. Zydanowicz then moved the ratification of the negotiated re-opener agreement between the district and SEIU/CSEA Local 2001 covering July 1, 2018–June 30, 2021; the board passed the ratification. Separately, Mrs. Blanks moved and Mr. Zydanowicz seconded approval of the Financial Report for the period ending June 30, 2018; the motion passed. Mr. Pauluk moved and Mrs. Polun seconded approval of the minutes from the Sept. 4, 2018 regular meeting; that motion passed as well.
