Library director reports new staff hire and program gains; six-month review slated for staff member

At the Jan. 6 meeting Director Michelle Centore briefed trustees on staffing and programming developments.
Centore said Lisa Pauszek has recently joined the staff and is providing vital support across a wide variety of tasks. She also said Rebecca Everett is due for a six-month review and is "exceeding expectations;" Centore will recommend Everett’s continued employment to the Board of Selectmen.
Programming updates covered juvenile, YA and adult offerings. Centore said WECC abandoned a previously considered playgroup idea because demand had waned, but juvenile programming has seen successes in other formats, including 'Take and Make' projects and plans for a dynamic 'Take Your Child to the Library Day.' Teen activity included a small Teen Advisory Board meeting, a Cookie Decorating and Cocoa Tasting event that drew eight teens, and upcoming events such as a Teen Movie Potluck and an all-ages 'Puzzles & Pizza' night. Adult programs continued to draw participants: a Cookbook Club had 14 attendees, an all-ages bookmark design contest produced a winner, and Rebecca Everett is starting a Historical Fiction Book Club along with other craft activities planned for 2026.
Centore said the Holiday Card Decorating program intended for ages 13+ drew mostly adults but was low-cost and still engaged participants. She also noted Circulation/Google Drive access changes to be made for trustees Elizabeth Fabrizi and Kate Zapadka.
