Zoning and Codes Officer Jim Wolbert reported the town issued seven new permits in the month — including two for new homes — and has issued 40 permits so far this year. Wolbert said four certificates of compliance were issued, Nexgistics received its final certificate of occupancy, and 52 inspections were completed during the month.
Wolbert also reported two new property-related complaints: one at a Remsen Road property with a prior complaint file and a second on Marble Road involving a person living full time in a trailer. Wolbert told the board there has been no movement on other open complaints despite attempts to contact property owners.
On planning decisions, the Planning Board denied a request for an inspection/repair garage on Main Road, issued a kennel permit because a resident owns seven dogs (the zoning law allows up to five without a permit), and tabled a pond application because the property owner did not attend the meeting to answer questions.
Why it matters: permit activity, certificates of occupancy and unresolved complaints affect neighborhood conditions and enforcement workload. The board received the report and did not take immediate additional enforcement actions at the Aug. 8 meeting.
