West Hartford Board ratifies teacher contract, accepts Conard re-roofing and advances CIP review

The West Hartford School District Board of Education ratified a negotiated agreement with the West Hartford Education Association (WHEA) and took several capital and routine actions at its Jan. 15, 2019 regular meeting.
Dr. Greenberg moved and Dr. Thomas-Farquharson seconded a motion to ratify the WHEA contract covering July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2022; the motion passed with five in favor and two abstentions. The board also accepted Conard High School partial re-roofing (State Project No. 155-0238) as complete and authorized the superintendent to request payment of the School Construction Grant from the State Department of Education; that motion passed unanimously. The Board voted unanimously to receive the 2019–2020 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) for review and to begin the process of final approval and adoption at the Feb. 5, 2019 meeting.
Superintendent Tom Moore also reported on community responses to recent events and thanked staff and mental health professionals who supported Sedgwick Middle School following a December incident.
