The Westbrook Board of Education Fiscal and Facilities Subcommittee on Jan. 6 reviewed a draft 10‑year Capital Plan presented by Superintendent Kristina J. Martineau that outlines facility needs across all three district schools, including roofs, HVAC systems, flooring and exterior doors.
Martineau described extensive athletic-complex replacement and upgrade needs and the committee discussed the multi‑year process required for that work. Committee members agreed the athletic-complex projects are more urgent than previously scheduled and decided to move the timeline forward in the draft plan.
The discussion also identified cafeteria facilities and equipment as a material need. The committee asked that a facility review of cafeteria space be completed and that cafeteria equipment and renovation costs be incorporated into the capital plan moving forward.
Facilities Director Jeff Tindall was present for the discussion and the minutes record staff involvement in compiling the plan; no specific funding sources or project timetables were adopted at this meeting. Next steps recorded in the minutes call for updating the draft capital plan to reflect the revised athletic-complex timeline and the added cafeteria work before future committee consideration.
