Board members at the Hinsdale Township HSD 86 HR Committee meeting on June 16 debated whether to continue the standing HR Committee or reduce its frequency, and discussed improving public access to consistent district data to reduce requests under the Freedom of Information Act.
One member said much of the committee's work is administrative and could be handled by the superintendent and staff, arguing the committee could be wound down or reduced in cadence so administrators have time to prepare comprehensive reports. Other members countered that smaller-group review helps board members develop ideas and that eliminating committee-level review might increase repeated reviews when items hit finance or the full board.
Several board members urged administration to identify one consistent annual dataset to post publicly so the community and board would be working from the same information; the change was framed as a step that could reduce duplicated FOIA requests. Administrators and board members agreed to raise the question of committee cadence and reporting at the full board meeting on June 25.
The HR Committee took no final action to eliminate the committee during the June 16 session; any recommendation would require the full board's consideration.
