Council approves ordinance to allow CPT grant reimbursements for police training

The Village of Silver Lake adopted Ordinance No. 14-2026 on March 16, authorizing periodic transfers from the CPT (credit/property/training) grant fund to the general fund as requested by the police chief to reimburse training costs.
Finance Chair Suzanne Garrett summarized that when police officers attend training the expenses are initially paid from the general fund, and the Chief can later request reimbursement from the CPT grant fund. Clerk-Treasurer Sean M. Housley said much of the CPT funding recently has been grant-driven and that staff will bring an appropriation measure in the future to establish a budget for training costs.
Ms. Garrett moved to suspend the rules and to adopt the ordinance; both motions passed on 7-0 roll calls.
