Prairie City Council adopts FY2026-27 budget after public hearing with no comment

The Prairie City Council unanimously adopted the fiscal year 2026–27 budget during a special session at City Hall and via Microsoft Teams on April 29, 2026.

Mayor Phil Holland called the meeting to order at 5:46 p.m. and the council recorded the presence of Council Members Derek Ingle, Joseph Disney, Beth James, Pam St. John and Darrin Telfer (participating by cell phone). Interim City Administrator and Library Director Sue Ponder, City Clerk/Finance Officer Jadi Brown and Public Works Director Harry Brannen were also in attendance.

Council Member Joseph Disney moved to approve the meeting agenda; Council Member Pam St. John seconded, and the motion carried on a unanimous roll call vote.

Council Member Derek Ingle moved to open the public hearing on the proposed FY2026-27 budget; Joseph Disney seconded and the hearing was opened at 5:48 p.m. The council noted that no members of the public were present in person or on Teams, and no written correspondence was received.

After a brief period with no public comment, Ingle moved to close the public hearing; St. John seconded and the hearing was closed at 5:49 p.m.

Mayor Phil Holland then read Resolution 04-29-26-1 to adopt the FY2026-27 budget. Council Member Joseph Disney moved to pass the resolution and Council Member Beth James seconded. On roll call the motion passed unanimously and the council adopted the budget by resolution (Resolution 04-29-26-1).

Council Member Beth James moved to adjourn the meeting; Joseph Disney seconded. The meeting adjourned at 5:52 p.m.
