Planning Commission seeks volunteer for library-site task force; staff previews code-audit and state-driven amendments

"They would meet approximately six times between this August and next April," Manager Olsson said, describing the task force's expected meeting cadence and duration. Commissioners discussed recruiting a commissioner with prior experience; Commissioner Guinea said he was interested but noted competing obligations.
Staff also previewed two work sessions planned for July 13: a semiannual code-amendments session (routine maintenance and items triggered by state law) and a code-audit update from Senior Planner Evan Franstead and a consultant overseeing public involvement. Manager Olsson warned that some code amendments must be completed to comply with new state legislation and noted compliance deadlines around Jan. 1, 2027; in the transcript the staff speaker qualified the citation, saying "House Bill 2138, I believe, or Senate Bill 218," and acknowledged uncertainty about the exact bill numbers.
The commission was told the July 27 meeting has been moved to Aug. 10 for the Foothills work session and staff said they are exploring a site tour tied to work on the code audit and other projects. No public comment or formal action on the library task force or code amendments was recorded at this meeting.
