Barbara Russell, in minutes submitted for the June 8, 2026 CPIC meeting, recorded that committee members are seeking advertisers to cover rising newsletter printing and mailing costs and are planning logistical steps ahead of the September issue.
The minutes say Kelly (last name not specified) told the committee she needs a tutorial to access and input content into the Working Strategies document and that the current advertising revenue is not covering production costs. Members discussed reaching out to potential advertisers — Hammond Lumber, Trish Cheney at Lake Point Realty, and Liz Sullebarger — and decided Dick Greenan will contact Mary Vogel in Belgrade to learn how that town sets advertising rates, according to the minutes.
Because the selectmen must approve newsletter content before printing, Barbara Russell recorded that she will contact Alice to see if the article deadline can be moved earlier so approval can occur prior to print runs. The minutes note that the printing cost has increased to over $700, attributed to the use of color photos; Barbara and Dick said they will work on securing advertising for the September issue.
The minutes also record personnel follow-up: Barb Saxton, who was absent from the meeting, may be asked to take on some duties previously handled by Sandy. Separately, the Rome Recreation Committee announced a Volunteer Appreciation BBQ set for June 13 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the pavilion. The committee's next meeting was scheduled for Aug. 17 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the town office, and the minutes state that requests for a Zoom link should be made at least one week in advance.
No formal motions or votes are recorded in the minutes; the entries are described as actions and follow-ups to be completed by named members.
