Somers board to appoint Lauren Iorio as assistant principal; SRO Brian Pavlovich to retire, Tyler Smith named as replacement

Superintendent Adam told the Somers Central School District Board on June 23 that he recommended Lauren Iorio as the district’s new Somers Middle School assistant principal, effective July 1. Adam said Iorio served as interim assistant principal at Farragut Middle School in Hastings-on-Hudson this past school year and brings more than a decade of classroom and leadership experience.
"She brings more than a decade of educational experience to the district," Adam said, describing Iorio’s work in school leadership, curriculum development and student support. He noted she holds New York State certifications in school district and building leadership and in childhood and early-childhood education, and completed additional coursework focused on students with disabilities.
The superintendent also read a tribute to Officer Brian Pavlovich, who is retiring after more than 20 years in law enforcement and eight years serving as the Primrose school resource officer. Adam credited Pavlovich with strengthening school-safety initiatives, crisis intervention and threat assessment programs and with creating a junior-officer program that gave students hands-on exposure to law-enforcement responsibilities.
"We extend our deepest thanks for his years of dedication and service to Primrose," Adam said of Officer Pavlovich.
Adam announced that Officer Tyler Smith will join Primrose as the new SRO beginning in August. Adam said Smith, a Peekskill native and SUNY Oswego graduate, joined the Westchester County Police Department in 2022, has served in patrol assignments and has filled in as a substitute SRO at Primrose this month.
The appointment of Iorio was presented on the agenda for consideration; the roster of consent and personnel items presented that evening contained the recommended appointment. The board authorized the superintendent to effectuate personnel actions as presented.
What happens next: If implemented as presented, Iorio’s appointment takes effect July 1; Tyler Smith is scheduled to begin at Primrose in August. The district said it will ensure a smooth transition for students and staff.
