Council approves FAA grant agreement for Taxiway A design after cost clarification

The Vero Beach City Council on June 23 voted to authorize the City to enter into a grant agreement with the Federal Aviation Administration for a project entitled “Taxiway A Rehabilitation – Design.” Airport Operations Manager Brandon Dambeck said the backup materials contained a cost discrepancy: one page showed $330,000 while the budget request listing was $392,970 after drainage modifications were added; he said corrected pages were sent to the FAA and pledged to correct a mislabel that referenced Taxiway B.
Councilmember John Carroll asked for the proposed project schedule; staff agreed to provide that schedule. Mayor John Cotugno opened and closed the public hearing with no public comment. The resolution passed on a roll-call vote, 5-0.
