Reinbeck council sets RAGBRAI vendor fees, approves library appointment and personnel changes

The Reinbeck City Council on June 1 approved several event, library and personnel items. Councilmembers Wambold and Bueghly reported on RAGBRAI planning, saying there are 13 meal vendors plus additional snack and local vendors and that volunteers are still needed; a town-hall meeting was scheduled for June 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the Memorial Building. The council approved street closings for the Firemen’s Dance on July 3 and for the Lions Club Movie Night on June 6, and set vendor fees: food truck vendors $350, local vendors $45 and out-of-town vendors $100.
The council approved the Library Board’s appointment of Diane Keith to fill a vacancy and heard a library update from Michelle Sieh, who said the May 31 summer program had 152 registered attendees and additional programs are planned. On personnel matters, the council accepted the resignation of Utility Billing Clerk Tara Klein and approved hiring Sherri Bissonnette as the new part-time Utility Billing Clerk. The council also denied a Peddler’s Permit application from Abram Dow with Fox Pest Control.
Council discussed other operational items related to RAGBRAI logistics including mosquito spraying, low-hanging branches near camper parking and the need for additional rock in an alley being used more due to construction.
