The Reinbeck City Council on June 1 did not advance Resolution #2026-16R, which would have called an election to enter into a general obligation loan agreement for a principal amount not to exceed $4,000,000 to finance a fire-department project. Councilmember Pease moved to approve the resolution but the motion failed for lack of a second after council members noted the fire department had not provided requested financial statements.
Members discussed the fundraising signage for the project, which displayed a $2,000,000 goal while the council was told the project cost would be around $5,000,000. Councilmembers said they needed the department’s financial details before moving forward and agreed to revisit the resolution at the July 6 meeting if those documents are received.
The motion’s failure means the council took no formal action toward a bond election at the June meeting; the council’s minutes record that the item will return to the July agenda contingent on the department supplying its financials. No vote tally in favor was recorded because the motion lacked a second.
