The council approved several event-related street closures for the summer season.
Greg Snider, representing the 4th of July Committee, confirmed the parade route would remain the same but said fireworks staging must shift because of new construction; council approved the parade and fireworks street closings and recommended using county barricades for Park Street. The Farmers Market’s request to close Broad Street from Hwy 175 to Main Street from June 1 through October also passed on a 5-0 vote after a motion by Council member Pease. Council member Wambold presented requested street closings for RAGBRAI on July 23 — including West Street from Hwy 175 to Main, Main Street from West to Broad, Broad Street from Main to Hwy 175, and additional closures for adaptive riders — and the council approved those closings unanimously.
Council recorded the approvals and did not attach additional conditions other than the suggested use of county barricades for the Park Street closing.
