Summary
The Reinbeck City Council unanimously approved Resolution #2026-12R adopting the FY2027 budget and certifying city taxes, set the FY2027 levy at 12.10245, and authorized a special election in September for a CIP levy because it cannot appear on the November ballot in an even year.

The Reinbeck City Council unanimously adopted the FY2027 budget and certified the city’s tax levy at 12.10245 during a special budget hearing on April 29, 2026.
Bueghly moved to approve Resolution #2026-12R, "A Resolution Adopting FY2027 Budget and Certification of City Taxes," and Pease seconded. The clerk was directed to file the adopted budget and tax certification with the State and County Auditor. The roll call vote recorded in the minutes shows councilmembers Wambold, Pease, Johnson and Bueghly voting "aye." The minutes state the budget hearing was opened at 5:01 p.m. and that no written or oral comments were received.
Councilmembers also authorized a September special election to consider a CIP levy. Mayor Jamie Eiffler explained—according to the minutes—that because this is an even-numbered year the CIP levy cannot be placed on the November ballot, but the city may hold a special election in September; Johnson moved to hold the special election and Bueghly seconded, with the motion passing 4–0.
The minutes record motions to open and close the FY2027 hearing (moved and seconded as noted) and show the hearing closed in the record at 5:32 p.m. The clerk will file the certified budget with the State and County Auditor as required by the resolution.
What happens next: the clerk is to file the adopted budget and tax certification with the State and County Auditor. The minutes do not specify an exact calendar date in September for the special election; the council’s action was an authorization to hold that election in September.
Provenance: Discussion and motions recorded in the minutes at SEG 004.
