Residents press council on bond increase, consultant payments and PEOSHA remediation

Mary Burke asked why the original bond amount had increased by $500,000; the Administrator said the introduced bond ordinance combined the original $2.0 million allocated for infrastructure improvements with an added $500,000 to help fund the borough’s 2026 capital budget and said certain funds were earmarked for the borough hall project per the CMFO and auditor’s recommendations. Burke also asked why the borough had not used existing capital funds; the Administrator replied those funds were earmarked for the borough hall project and the financial plan followed the CMFO and auditor guidance.
James Bond urged that department heads be permitted to upload materials directly to the municipal website instead of routing everything through a single person. He also asked how much Anthony Iovino had been paid to date; the Administrator estimated about $279,000, while Bond cited a state website that listed approximately $3,000,000 and asked the Administrator to consult the CMFO to reconcile the discrepancy.
George Thibeault asked about the status of a PEOSHA complaint; the Administrator said remediation of the offices was nearly complete and the borough was on schedule to meet the May 7, 2026 deadline; attic rodent and bat infestation issues were to be addressed the following week. George Mervine reported that portions of the municipal budget posted online had pages cut off (pages 40b, 40c) and the council agreed to review and correct the posting.
The council did not take formal action during public comment on these questions; staff committed to follow up with the CMFO on the consultant payment figures, to remedy the online budget posting, and to continue remediation work for the offices.
