Red Oak council adopts cemetery management ordinance, advances floodplain rules and OKs equipment purchases

The Red Oak City Council adopted Ordinance #638, "Cemetery Management Chapter 115," after a third and final reading at its Nov. 4 meeting, city officials said. The motion to approve the ordinance passed by roll call vote with all ayes.
At the same meeting the council approved the second reading of Ordinance #639, addressing Floodplain Management, advancing that measure for a subsequent reading and formal adoption process. Council members voted to move the ordinance forward by motion and roll call.
Council also approved several routine and capital items. By motion the council authorized Resolution 2024-66 to purchase a 2012 bucket truck for $35,000 and declared a 1987 Ford 600 bucket truck surplus under Resolution 2024-70; both motions passed unanimously. The council declared a 2017 Dodge Charger surplus under Resolution 2024-68 and approved amendments to residential inspection rental fees under Resolution 2024-67.
The council approved city claims totaling $90,350.47 and utility deposit refunds of $624.88 as part of the consent agenda. The meeting included the swearing-in of Ashley Wilson as City Clerk and scheduling of a work session to continue review of recodification for ordinance chapters 1–25.
The council adjourned at 7:38 p.m.
