Council reissues salvage permit for H Motors with conditions after owner agrees to cleanup and fencing

The Oakland Town Council voted to reissue a salvage permit for H Motors after the owner committed to site improvements and a follow-up review.
Aaron, who updated the council on the matter, said he visited the property and that the owner "said that they would um not go with putting a fence up" initially but agreed to add a sign and install two to three sections of wooden stockade fence on the opposite side of the property. Aaron told the council the owner had removed many vehicles and planned to keep "anywhere from eight to 10 cars." The landowner whose property abuts the site said he is "okay with it as well," Aaron added.
A councilor moved to issue the permit conditional on the owner following through with the promised changes. The motion was seconded by Mr. Nutter and the council voiced support; the council scheduled a recheck in September when the permit will be brought up again for review.
The council noted that the property contains a small stream and instructed care regarding fence placement near wet areas. No fine amounts or enforcement penalties were recorded in the discussion; the council’s action was limited to conditional permit reissuance and a scheduled review.
The council’s next review of the permit is expected in September when staff will report back on whether the owner met the stated conditions.
