MAEF reports $100,000 raised at Zephyr Gala; grants and scholarships funded for 2025–26

Kate Krampy, introduced as a parent and MAEF trustee, presented highlights of MAEF’s 2025–26 year and the results of the Zephyr (Sabre) Gala. Krampy said MAEF distributed nearly $90,000 in classroom grants over the year, including $38,000 for teacher professional development, ukuleles for preschool music, heart‑rate monitors for special education and physical‑education classrooms, equipment for culinary classes at the high school and support for engineering and advanced learners.
Krampy said MAEF awarded $59,500 in post‑secondary scholarships (39 scholarships to 33 students under the program as administered this year), and that two new memorial scholarship funds were added this year. The primary reason she was at the board meeting was to report on the fund‑a‑need selected for the gala: the Angel Fund. Krampy said the gala’s fund‑a‑need raised $100,000 to replenish the Angel Fund, which had not been boosted since 2020.
She described how the Angel Fund supports back‑to‑school supplies for about 116 Monta Vista students, daily snacks for about 100 students, weekend food backpacks and care closets in each of the district’s five buildings for hygiene items and winter clothing. She also said MAEF fulfilled 107 individual family and student assistance requests this year, including gas cards, grocery cards, bedding and extracurricular fees.
Board members thanked Krampy for her volunteer service — the board noted she has been gala chair for six years — and took a photo to mark the recognition. The presentation concluded with brief board commentary praising MAEF’s contributions to classrooms and student supports.
What happens next: MAEF will manage distribution of the Angel Fund replenishment according to its and the district’s agreed processes; the board recognized Krampy’s transition from gala chair into a trustee role.
