Hudson council tables phone-system purchase, approves minutes and hears administration updates

The City of Hudson Council approved minutes from its Jan. 9 meeting and conducted routine business at its Feb. 13, 2025, meeting at City Hall.

Mayor Pro Tem Phil Adkison moved to approve the Jan. 9, 2025, minutes; Councilmember Terry Taliaferro seconded and the council voted 4–0 to adopt the motion.

A scheduled presentation on an updated phone system by Javier Horta of TeleClear (Innovative Printers) was canceled because Horta had a family emergency. Councilmember Terry Taliaferro moved to table the purchase discussion until the next meeting; Councilmember Frankie Ornduff seconded and the motion passed 4–0.

City Administrator Rodney McCarty delivered several administration updates. He said contractors for Oncor had placed signs indicating a Feb. 18 road closure on Mt. Carmel Road at the wrong location and that the signs should have been at Gobblers Knob. McCarty also reported that repairs at the Guacamoles restaurant have started and the owner expects completion in a few months. He told the council that Bahena Trucking is considering building a parking lot and office on Ted Trout Drive and that Everett Griffith & Associates are reviewing a proposed 19‑lot subdivision on Old Union Road; the city engineer is checking sewer capacity for that project.

McCarty announced the hiring of Kevin Kelley as the city’s new Public Works Director; the minutes note Kelley previously worked in Hudson from 2001–2008 as police chief.

Councilmember Terry Taliaferro moved to adjourn at 5:47 p.m.; Mayor Pro Tem Phil Adkison seconded and the motion passed 4–0.
