At the June 24 gathering the Community Preservation Commission reviewed its FY28 schedule and website plans and discussed public outreach possibilities.
Staff proposed a pre-application deadline of Oct. 1 and a full-application deadline of Friday, Nov. 13 (the Friday immediately before the commission’s November meeting, which falls before Thanksgiving). A revised, simplified pre-application form circulated by staff is intended to make responsibilities clearer to applicants, including confirmation that applicants have permission from the controlling authority for a property or artifact before applying.
Commissioners also discussed improving the CPC webpage to include application packets (PDF and Word versions), a left-navigation listing of received pre-applications, and project pages that show progress photos (before/during/after) and stage-based summaries. They proposed adding QR codes on project signage that would direct passersby to online project pages, and agreed to a slow rollout of website changes so commissioners can review and comment.
For public outreach, commissioners supported staffing a Norwood Day table (potentially in partnership with ConCom) and suggested creating a CPC banner and a storyboard of project photos for display. Staff said the town and DVW websites have intermittent outages and asked commissioners to suggest example sites they like for reference.
The meeting concluded with announcements about a July 4 ribbon-cutting for two restored bells and scheduling the next commission meeting for Wednesday, July 15.
