The Board of Selectmen voted unanimously on June 9 to set the municipal curbside bulk‑pickup charge at $45 per item, effective with the Waste Management contract change on July 1.
Public Works told the board Waste Management’s new contract will charge the town $43 per bulk item; staff recommended a $45 fee to absorb a small administrative charge so the town is not subsidizing the service. "Our cost for curbside pickup is going up to $43 per item starting July 1st. We would like to set the fee at $45 per item," said Mr. Masucco, recapping the director’s memo.
Staff also said they plan to allow residents to buy curbside bulk stickers by credit card later this summer, which will require a modest handling charge. The board approved the rate on a motion and second with a recorded unanimous vote of four in favor, none opposed.
Manager and selectmen noted the town can revisit rates when the Waste Management contract is renegotiated and encouraged continued outreach to help residents reduce bulk waste through reuse and diversion programs.
