Oakland council approves wage increases for three city employees

The Oakland City Council approved personnel committee recommendations on employee wages at its Feb. 9 meeting.
Resolution 2026-02-06, approved on a 3-0 roll call, grants Lockwood a 5% pay increase to $86,260.42 per year. Resolution 2026-02-05, also approved 3-0, grants Dylan Bees a 5% increase to $75,398.65 per year. Council also approved Resolution 2026-02-07 to increase Virgil Smith’s pay by $1.00 per hour in recognition of his completion of Wastewater Treatment I certification; that motion passed on a 3-0 roll call.
Council Member Ford introduced the personnel motions and the votes were unanimous among the three council members present. The personnel committee report noted annual evaluations were reviewed prior to the wage actions.
The wage resolutions take effect as recorded in the Feb. 9 minutes; the minutes do not specify implementation dates beyond the resolution language.
