Public works reports wells, sewer-main repairs and student training opportunity

Public Works Director Josh Billings updated the council on several utility matters at the Jan. 12 meeting. Billings said the deep well at OSI is back up after repairs, and that a new sewer main near the golf course has developed issues that will require digging up and repair, likely this week. He added that newly installed wells are experiencing production issues and he will meet with engineers to discuss options this week.
Billings also said an iJAG student will be coming a few days each week to learn about public works and utility jobs, an effort Billings framed as workforce outreach and training.
No formal council action was requested at this update, but Billings’ report flagged near-term excavation and engineering work that could result in service interruptions or construction activity.
