Christine Weithman, Secretary of the Charter and Bylaw Review Committee, told members the committee received notice of an upcoming Joint Committee on Municipalities and Regional Government hearing set for Tuesday, May 13 at 1:00 PM in Hearing Room B1 to consider Bill H.3898, the meeting minutes state.
Weithman said the hearing is open to the public in hybrid format and will be live streamed on the General Court website. She reported that 47 bills are on the docket and that H.3898 is listed 25th. Weithman said she would send directions and information about participating virtually or in person.
According to the minutes, Weithman spoke with Representative Linsky, who told her no one needs to attend but that it would be helpful if someone from the town observed; she also said Representative Linsky had sent a letter to the committee following the bill’s filing. Paul Greismer, committee member, said he hoped to attend in person "as a respect for the process," the minutes note. The minutes record that a town meeting member posted the hearing information to the Town Meeting Facebook page and that Town Administration was notified.
No formal motion or vote was recorded on the hearing notice; the minutes indicate only informational discussion and an action to circulate participation details.
