Superintendent Dr. Luff presented his recommended evaluation goals for the 2027 cycle and asked the committee to approve evidence and timelines tied to each goal. He framed four core goals as required'professional practice, a student learning goal centered on MTSS, district improvement goals for climate/culture/technology (including screen-time and AI policy), and facilities/resource planning via a comprehensive facilities assessment and long-range roadmap.
Dr. Luff said the goals align with state guidance and the district strategic plan and described proposed evidence for each goal (MTSS frameworks, training agendas, a facilities study to be funded via town meeting warrant, and communications metrics for ParentSquare and multilingual outreach). "My goals are, obviously determined, through you," Dr. Luff told the committee as he outlined timelines for mid-cycle and end-of-cycle reporting.
Committee members asked whether to limit the number of evaluated goals; one member recommended reducing to four to avoid a checklist approach, while others supported adopting all six recommended items. A motion to approve the six recommended goals passed 3 to 1. The superintendent will proceed with tracking and reporting on the agreed goals and return updates during the year.
