Town Clerk Kayecea Sasser presented proposed revisions to the Town of South Vinemont’s Employee Policy and Procedure Manual at the Sept. 4 work session, including added holidays, revisions to sick leave, and changes to vacation accruals. Council members discussed the proposed administrative updates but did not vote on them.
Sasser also summarized the results of a study on retirement options. She said enrolling employees in the Employees' Retirement System of Alabama under Tier II would cost the town an estimated $1,447.00 per biweekly pay period. She added that if the council chose to adopt a resolution to offer Tier I benefits to those employees the cost to the town would increase to about $2,089.00 per biweekly pay period. The clerk noted employees are paid biweekly and that the council could adopt a policy to convert accrued sick time into retirement service credit.
Council discussion followed the presentation; no formal decision on retirement enrollment or manual adoption was made during the work session. Ross Campbell later moved to adjourn; the motion passed.
