South Vinemont council approves Girl Scout lease, adopts Rebuild Alabama transportation plan

SOUTH VINEMONT, Ala. — The South Vinemont Town Council on Aug. 12 unanimously approved a lease with a local Girl Scout troop and adopted a transportation plan cited by the mayor, while also approving routine minutes and financial reports and noting several small facilities upgrades.
Mayor Radginal Dodson introduced Resolution No. 2025-08-01 authorizing the mayor to enter a lease agreement with Vinemont Girl Scout Troop No. 10288. Council member Bonnie Goodwin moved to accept the resolution; Nina Justice seconded. The council approved the resolution by oral vote with all members voting yes.
The council next took up the Rebuild Alabama transportation plan referenced by the mayor. Council member Nina Justice moved to adopt the plan; Grady Malone seconded. The motion carried by unanimous oral vote.
Earlier in the meeting the council accepted the July 8, 2025 work-session and regular-session minutes and approved the July 2025 financial report after motions and oral roll-call votes. All routine motions passed with unanimous votes.
Under other business, Dodson told the council that a solar streetlight for the new pickleball court had been installed at a listed cost of $564.00. He also said a water bottle filling station has been installed at the pavilion/walking trail/art park and that sidewalk repairs at the walking trail are underway.
The council reminded the public of upcoming items on the town calendar, including Senior Citizens Day on Aug. 18, a special called meeting to canvass election results on Sept. 2 and a budget work session on Sept. 4. The meeting was adjourned at 6:04 p.m.
