South Vinemont council approves uncontested election resolutions, appoints election officers and OKs park purchases

At its July 8 meeting, the South Vinemont Town Council unanimously approved four uncontested election resolutions, appointed election officers and set pay, accepted June minutes and financials, approved a $4,841 purchase of backstop nets for the sports complex and noted several park improvements.
The South Vinemont Town Council unanimously approved a slate of uncontested election resolutions, appointed election officers and accepted routine municipal business during its regular session on July 8.
Mayor Radginal Dodson called the meeting to order, listed visitors and members present and opened with an invocation led by Councilmember Nina Justice. The council moved quickly through procedural business, approving the June 10 work session and regular meeting minutes and accepting the town’s June 2025 financial report on oral unanimous votes.
In new business the clerk read a series of election resolutions. The council approved Resolution No. 2025-07-01 (Council Place No. 1), Resolution No. 2025-07-02 (Council Place No. 2), Resolution No. 2025-07-03 (Council Place No. 4) and Resolution No. 2025-07-04 (Council Place No. 5), each confirming that the listed seats would be elected without opposition. Each resolution was moved, seconded and approved by oral, unanimous vote.
Council also approved Resolution No. 2025-07-05 to appoint election officers and set their pay rate. Councilmember Nina Justice moved the resolution; Councilmember Ross Campbell seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
The council approved a $4,841.00 quote from Parris Fence for purchase and installation of backstop nets at the South Vinemont Sports Complex. Councilmember Grady Malone moved acceptance of the quote; Councilmember Bonnie Goodwin seconded, and the motion passed on an oral unanimous vote.
Mayor Dodson told the council that a solar streetlight for the pickleball court had been installed at a cost of $564.00 and described the new water bottle filling station at the Pavilion/Walking Trail/Art Park. Councilmember Kelley Little noted sidewalk repairs at the walking trail are underway. The mayor also announced Senior Citizens Day, set for July 21, 2025, 10 a.m.–1 p.m. at the Vinemont Community Center.
