Committee approves superintendent evaluation; Goal 3 moved to 'met'

The Norwood School Committee on June 3 approved the superintendent's annual evaluation document and composite narrative, including a committee decision to set Goal 3 to a composite rating of "met." The evaluation was approved by voice vote 4–0.
The chair explained the process used to produce composite rankings: each committee member filled a rubric-based form rating goals and indicators; composite rankings reflect the tallied results. Goal 3 read, in part, that by late spring the superintendent would develop a recommendation for a strategic plan that included stakeholder input and focused on instruction, safety, student services, operations and finances. Because committee responses on Goal 3 had been split (exceeds/met/significant progress), a member moved to set the composite to "met." That motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
Committee members praised the superintendent's leadership and documentation of progress. One member said the composite ranking "reflects a broad consensus" of the superintendent's success over his second year and thanked him for taking ownership of the district's work.
The approved evaluation and narrative will be posted as the public record and will inform the superintendent's upcoming goals presentation at the next meeting.
