The East Rockhill Township Board of Supervisors reviewed a draft zoning hearing application from Tree Course Adventures at its Jan. 22, 2019 meeting and chose not to take an official position on the applicant’s request for an F17 Outdoor Entertainment variance.
Township staff reported the proposed ropes course would be constructed using existing trees on a 46‑acre parcel at 2503 Old Bethlehem Pike in the Resource Protection Zoning District. Staff noted several outstanding site issues: a septic system test had not been completed, the parcel contains an existing roughly 200‑year‑old dwelling, plans call for a 100‑space stone parking lot in front of that dwelling, string lighting would be used on site except in the parking lot, some ash trees would be removed and the applicant proposed about 40 employees. Morano and other staff recommended traffic review and notifying neighboring property owners.
During the board’s review there were interruptions from members of the public who asked general questions without stating their names and addresses. After discussion, the board reached consensus not to take a position on the application. The minutes note that staff recommended notifying neighbors and performing a traffic review; no formal township motion to oppose or support the application was recorded.
