Aurelia council approves consent agenda, hears finance and economic development presentations

The Aurelia City Council approved its consent agenda and financial reports and heard three informational presentations at its Dec. 16 meeting.
Council Member Nelson moved to approve the consent agenda and Council Member Bruce seconded; a roll-call vote was recorded with all members voting "aye." The consent agenda included minutes, clerk/treasurer reports and bills payable. Vendor highlights listed in the minutes included a $76,971.70 invoice from Blacktop Services for street milling and paving and a $22,652.50 engineering fee to I & S for tower/well work. The clerk's financial summary listed November revenues of $100,553.82 and disbursements of $98,568.35.
Rebecca Greenway delivered a presentation on services from Northland Public Finance. Bill Anderson described Cherokee Area Economic Development Corporation's 2024 activities and upcoming plans. Tom Grafft of ISG reviewed a proposed municipal test-well project; following that presentation the council later awarded the drilling contract to Sargent Drilling.
Council Member Redig moved to approve bad-debt write-offs and state offsets totaling $2,195.19; Council Member Fassler seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The council also set a Budget Workshop for Jan. 27 at 5:30 p.m. on a motion from Council Member Redig, seconded by Council Member Bruce. With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:47 p.m.
