Aurelia council adopts FY2025 budget, approves budget amendment and health insurance renewal

The Aurelia City Council on Nov. 18 adopted the municipal budget for fiscal 2025, approved the city’s first FY25 budget amendment and authorized a Hometown Pride partnership with Keep Iowa Beautiful.
Council Member Nelson moved to open the public hearing on Resolution 24-16 (the FY25 budget amendment); the council closed the hearing and approved the amendment by unanimous vote. Later in the meeting the council voted to adopt the Aurelia Municipal Budget for FY2025 by unanimous vote.
Council also approved Resolution 24-19 to enter a Hometown Pride Partnership Agreement with Keep Iowa Beautiful and designated Mayor Dennis Weathers as the city liaison for that program (the minutes record the liaison name as Denny Weathers in the motion and as Dennis Weathers in the meeting signature line).
The council reviewed employee health insurance renewal options and recorded that the current plan would renew at a projected premium increase of 7.72%. Council Member Redig moved to approve the Wellmark Annual Healthcare Renewal, the motion was seconded by Nelson, and all members voted in favor.
Earlier in the meeting the council approved the consent agenda, which included bills payable and clerk/treasurer reports. The minutes list one subsection of bills payable totalling $52,073.03 and show an overall amount later in the minutes as $249,803.96; October financials included a listed subtotal of $64,225.62.
With no further business, Mayor Weathers adjourned the meeting at 7:53 p.m.
