Aurelia council approves consent agenda, sets Nov. 18 budget hearing and authorizes notice for fire station project

The Aurelia City Council met Oct. 21, 2024, and approved its consent agenda, routine reports and several formal actions before adjourning at 7:27 p.m. Mayor Dennis Weathers called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
Council Member Redig moved to approve the consent agenda and Council Member Nelson seconded; roll call recorded ayes from Redig, Nelson, Fassler, Johnson and Bruce and the motion carried. The consent items included minutes of the previous meeting, clerk/treasurer and investment reports and bills payable.
City Clerk Stephanie McSparran presented detailed bills payable and financial reports. The clerk listed itemized payables (examples: Aurelia Electric $2,700.18; Aurelia Utilities garbage customers $4,657.50; Bradley Gustafson $3,552.50). The distributed materials showed a bills-payable total of $131,048.86 and additional listed disbursements totaling $33,240.64; written September revenue and disbursement schedules were also included in the packet.
On council business, Council Member Redig moved and Council Member Fassler seconded to set a public hearing for the Nov. 18, 2024 council meeting on an "Amendment of Current Budget." The motion passed on a unanimous vote. Council Member Nelson moved and Council Member Bruce seconded approval of Resolution 24-17, "Resolution to provide notice of hearing on proposed plans, specifications, form of contract and estimate of cost for the Aurelia Fire Station Project," which the council approved unanimously.
The council also approved the Annual Financial Report for fiscal year 2024 on a motion by Council Member Redig, seconded by Council Member Nelson, and approved a liquor license for the Aurelia Golf Course on a motion by Council Member Nelson, seconded by Council Member Redig; both motions passed with all members voting aye. Public Works, Police, Clerk and landfill reports were given during the meeting.
There were no contested votes or recorded dissent in the meeting minutes. With no further business, Mayor Weathers adjourned the meeting at 7:27 p.m.
