Board OKs shared special-education administrative assistant with Harland district

The Atlantic Comm School District Board voted May 13 to enter a joint-sharing agreement with Harland Community Schools to employ a special-education administrative assistant who will support Medicaid filings and program administration.
The superintendent described the arrangement as favorable after Harland reported that, in their experience, the employee’s work on Medicaid claims often results in reimbursements that offset salary costs. The superintendent said the district’s share was discussed as roughly $17,000 but that the staffing and reimbursement mechanics would be reviewed by the administration.
Board members discussed hiring timing and recruitment challenges for a mid-May vacancy and directed administrators to return with implementation details. The board approved the sharing agreement so the district can proceed while staff finalize hiring, advertising and workload distribution.
The motion passed unanimously.
