The Atlantic Comm School District Board on May 13 approved a construction agreement with DCI Construction and a geotechnical services contract to drill and sample soil borings as part of the district’s ongoing building-project work. The superintendent told the board attorneys had reviewed contract language and recommended approval.
The superintendent said the district has met repeatedly with SVPA and DCI and that updated schematics and blueprints will be presented to the board at a public session next Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. Board members voted to approve the DCI agreement during the meeting after the superintendent confirmed attorneys on both sides had been in contact.
Board members also approved a separate geotechnical agreement, which the superintendent described as standard pre-bond work. He said the district will cover the cost of soil sampling and boring outside of bond sale expenses. No dollar figure for the geotechnical work was provided during the discussion.
The approvals clear the way for DCI and geotechnical crews to proceed to the next planning steps. The board scheduled a fuller presentation by the architects/contractor so members and the public can review the updated plans before final contract benchmarks are set.
