The Atkins City Council approved pay application No. 13 for the city’s new fire station as construction nears completion.
Staff reviewed the pay application packet, describing completed interior finishes, HVAC, plumbing fixtures, acoustic ceiling tile, flooring and ongoing installations of alarm and access-control systems. The original contract was stated as $3,376,000; staff said net change orders have been minimal and the revised contract sum is just under $3.4 million. The city holds the customary 5% retainage (about $165,000), and staff reported the project is approximately 97% complete.
The current payment request presented in the packet was for approximately $142,906.93 to cover work through Jan. 31. Councilmember Stolen moved to approve pay request No. 13; Rolando seconded and the motion passed by voice vote (4–0).
Councilmembers noted an upcoming open house and public walk-through of the new station once remaining furnishings are completed.
